my Christmas vacation #2

First of all, thank you for the birthday wishes and all your comments on my 'altered book' planner ~ I will let you know how it works out over time. And to answer the question about the holes, they were punched by my husband with a hand-held single hole punch (and that wasn't easy)...not sure what you would use for a thicker cover??
~
One of our day trips over Christmas vacation was to an antique co-op about an hour away. It was quite large and on two floors; I lost track of time, there was so much to see.
This little one-cup brown betty teapot was only a couple dollars so I couldn't resist getting it. It's perfect when I'm alone for my midmorning cup of tea...

I also picked up this piece of needlepoint with an idea in mind...

...after being so inspired by this beautiful and creative rug ~ isn't it clever!!

my Christmas vacation #1

Happy New Year!!
And thank you everyone for your kind wishes and comments. We had a good Christmas and New Year's here (with my birthday thrown in as well), and I especially enjoyed the week in between. No more rushing around ~ plenty of time to relax and enjoy some day trips, flea market shopping, sewing, knitting, crafting, and winter walks...and of course, the eating of waaaay too many Christmas cookies!

One of my projects for the New Year was to work on my planner. Around the internet, I've seen these wonderful journals and such made from old books and decided to use that idea. An old French lesson book and some binder rings became my new cover. I used some scrapbooking paper I had on hand to line the inside of the covers. Some pages out of an old art calendar became dividers, which I labeled using my P-Touch.

Every year I purchase refill pages, but this year in an effort to be more frugal, I decided to print up my own. I found this site online, where you can print out a variety of calendar and planner pages. Because I didn't think ahead, I failed to print on both sides of a page. So, I stitched every two together on my sewing machine, creating a pocket to stash any pertinent notes or papers. I found some Martha Stewart tabs at Michael's for the months...
Since I just use a monthly planner, it's not too bulky. I also have sections for menus, cleaning routines, address book, notes, to do lists, projects, etc.
So far (well, only two days, I know!), it is working out great. Most of all, I love it because it's unique!

Happy knitty New Year 2008

Recycled old clothes, I have already got to the spring cleaning (Well Winter wardrobe DE-clutter) and so the yarn that i have made is the rag from my cut up and not fit for the charity shop clothes.
Well I guess they could have gone in those Green Humania bins, but I have this terrible habit!, "Of, Just one more wear syndrome" And it never actually gets to the charity shop. So it is a little drastic, but took no time at all to cut up and here whats knitted up so far.
And thats the 1st job of the New Year!
It given me a good inspirational idea, it looks like a blind (the kitchen bathroom type) But I figure that it as a print on a blind would be excellent for a kid's play room or bed room.
