70's Crochet an Oxfam Bargain.

70's not only my favourite era for furniture, huge passion for chairs.
The fashion,the music Abba.
It is also my favourite era for crochet.
Patch work!
(Another of my goals to learn in life)
Retro 70's all the way.........

I picked up this little gem at £2.99 in my local book store (Oxfam)

Rite van der Klip , what a funkyl A-r-t-i-s-t-s title.

1975

Door Beads (I spent a little time) last year trying to find those fly plastic strips that you get for door frames, keeping out the bugs, E bay eventually.
Needed for my out side shed (AKA) Art studio;-)
Why didn't I think to make some........New project

Free-form 70's known then as Free crochet.
What a cool Tree!

Free crochet a little exert of explanation and below the window decoration.
Nets the whiter whites of the 80's verses the home made multi coloured of the 70's!

I know which I would have rather had.

In fact I just made some for my art shed, using some vintage doily that I recently purchased.

Staple gun and some similar doily's ,dye optional.... job done;-)

Teenagers Bed Room

Yes that really is a crochet guitar and record (Vinyl)
Plastic (70's) not so good but things lasted unlike today.
Just when you think that you thought of something new, its always been done before.

Smitten With My Mitten

Knitting challenge part two.

Progress so far seems to be one mitten is almost completed, well ready to stitch up.

This time no translating 1st, I just used the diagram instinct first.......
if in doubt translate;-0.

Drifting a little from the challenge,

But a challenge all the same,

Because for me knitting is a bit of a challenge,

It doesn't come naturally like crochet.

But I am addicted to those perfect neat little stitches
that sit patiently in their rows just waiting to be increased.

No stress,
Simple,
Smart and at the same time smug,

As they can sit as long as they like and you can continue..........
When ever, 1hour,1day,1week even 1 year.

Mitten start point it's a higgley piggley post, but that just my personality.
(Yesterdays diary of mitten one)

Slow progress to begin.........why?
As I realised in a coffee shop with no measure its broke and I need to replace it.

Improvisation a business card will do.

I figured
7 cm?ish.......
In fact on texting Rich, 8cm to be precise

So that's what I used to get started a little maths/basic
/me;-)

Pattern(ish)

Size 7 sticks, chunky yarn.
48 stitches to start

17 Cm's Of just Knit.

Then a decrease of around 11 cm (check that)

Then knitted around 12 stitches

Cast of the rest and then picked back up the remaining 12 stitches on the needle.

knitted to end of that row increased but 5 stitches.

Then worked the remaining stitches in knit.

7cm more

Cast off.

How to knit a Jumper with no pattern 1975 style

1975
Maj Britt Engström(In Swedish)

I do remember this style of jumper Being a 70's child.

yesterdays charity shop discovery was just what I have been looking for.

my daughter like her mother is a free-form knitter, Crocheter, so I have been trying to explain how to make a jumpers, using different lengths scarf's
(Best description)

Of course she thought that I was taking nonsense........

But 25kr (£2) Bargain with pictures they make thing so easy to understand and they don't frighten beginners.
And this it how
Basic
Any size, you would just have to measure the teddy, baby, adult and pencil out a rough instruction and as long as it was knitted ,crocheted in a round about the size, it should work.
