Queen Silvia of Sweden and a knitted poem

What is in the box?

And from whom is the gift........

Afternoon tea with the Queen.......

Queen of Sweden that is!

And the Princess!

My son and friends had an extremely educational school trip.

A conference presenting to the Queen.

And he met the princess Madeline (very pretty very normal/his words)

Knit Cafe' and other crochet projects.

Fridays knit Cafe', international.
(Below)
Today's crochet and my shadow obsession.

Knit cafe

I'm hopefully running one (mini project), it's to do with my kid's school. Not just me, I have a
second in command Celine very strong crocheter;-).

I had to announce it today, 1st PTA meet
(slightly nervous)
But I think that it went well
.

We will see, once I have finalised the venue. Will they come.......

I even made a little knit cafe booklet
, describing what a knit Cafe meet, means to me. I use the term made lightly as I have thing saved in the pc that's as far as I've gotten.

Tonight's plan!, finalise pamphlet.........well try

P,T,A crochet

A bag, Ecuador yarn style.
Size five hook, five bright yarns and a basket(coffee) and of we go.

Door plate

My letter E (plan B,C? not sure what)

Crochet lettering, two colours at the same time.

I do like that you can be tidy with the colour that you are not using. This way of making the letter, does not really impress me it's just too organised.

I prefer plan A, that being total free form, so I turned my sample into a door plate for my daughters friend.

Pizza Slice Crochet, any one?

This is project shawl
I began the triangles, but on taking the photo today , they look so good that you could eat then, sandwich/cake slice?.
(future project!)
The colours's mmmm,mmmmm.
Pink, today's purchase.

Poetry Society

Day Three

Stockholms Kulturfestival 09

Day three, not so busy this morning a lot of little kids and they seemed to favour the crochet.;-)(maybe the little ones, get taught crochet 1st)

I think that it is great that Scandinavian schools teach the craft, UK need to take this on board as far as I'm aware we do not teach knitting or crochet just sowing.

Today the knitted graffiti was favoured over the leaf making, people just really like the idea.

The picture above shows our little knit station(Not so little)
Can you notice the snake..........Everyday Helen(organiser) pulls something new from her bag;-)

I knit a poem

Well actually I crocheted a blank square, and finally I completed it.

I packed and posted it straight away, just making yesterdays last post.

A good feeling, It's finally done (yeh). I was hoping to complete a few but the time's running out. The tiny hook size 3 defiantly took me a lot longer than I had originally planned.

VHS
This afternoon I had a little time to begin my pockets, I am trying to complete it(VHS) by Saturday as there will be a vernissage between Three and four pm, for all the knitter that have helped with the project Sticka, Stockholm knitters,Graffiti

Whom ever?(many groups, I'm pleased to be a part of most of them)
A few knit politics here and there, but at the end of the day it's about getting people knitting and crocheting,(K,I,P,ing) personally I think that it a really cool thing to have organised and I'm really glad to be a part of it.

Fallen fairy
Garden photo opportunity (I took this in England) my friend is currently re-designing her garden and sadly this little glass fairy had fallen room her pole, I have a liking for garden fairy's.

Oh Deer

A deer in my garden, one of my favourite thing about where I live is that every
now and then a deer will visit my garden. It's a built up area but lots of green
gaps on the edge of the city.

Steeling berry's, but who cares..... so delicate with it's perfect white
cotton wool ball tail!

A Crochet Outing

I took my crochet to lunch.
The crochet poem, gets a road trip.
Well a walking tour............

Walking and Crocheting

Here I am walking, walking ......it's me trust me.

(no car crashes caused)
But It must be a funny sight, some people listen to eye pods.........

I crochet and watch where I'm going
(A multitasking feet!)

The Palace in sight

Drottningholm Slot
A Swedish palace not to far from my home.
And my favourite palace, the gardens are beautiful. And unlike the English monarchy, you can get really close to everything around the palace.

A beautiful day, you cant feel the warmth from the picture but the sun shone.

Lunch

New tea gardens/cafe, this was desperately needed.. The previous was very run down and not fit for a palace afternoon tea, In the Swedes case, cooooffffeeeee. I feel awfully Swinglish and quiet at home here. So coffee for me!/no decaf.

Lunch and my Poetry crochet, minty
The menu slightly difficult, seeing it is a tourist trap. But I managed and
My lunch lovely, my crochet well it didn't eat much, just a few rows.
Then my trip home.
All in all, I think my poetry square grew an inch, but a size 3 hook and 90 stitches I'm really not surprised, but at least we got a little exercise.

Knitted Graffiti and other projects

I have nearly completed my crocheted Graffiti for the kulturfestivalen. I ran out of beads and then I got bored of strips, so I have just really being playing with the stitches. My favourite type of crochet.
Vhs
I have been using the red cotton to create the imaginary zipper. The place that you can pull the dress tight(to skinny) to fit and that of course you have a little give (if larger) the access point.
(I just cant think of the right word;-()

Hook size 8, 5 then 3

Crocheted letters
(My E)

E for Eat me
, Drink me.........Part of my Alice collection.

Tuesday at Hurtigs
Carin and Gunilla
A lovely cup of Earl gray tea, we got to sit outside and chat.
We really laughed, it was a very funny knit cafe.
Whom ever thought of the knit and
stitch a very skilled multi tasking women,
Because when you chat and stitch add laughter, inevitably this happens

I had to unpick a few free-form rows(go figure), Gunilla lost count of her stitches
.

I learnt something new

Carin
show me how to crochet the 2ND yarn in, as if the back of a fare isle knit all thready was how my 1st attempt looked, but on explanation a little twist and stitch the tread was neatly in.
(My best explanation)

I'm making letter again and I'm trying it the make a crochet square way using the two colours at once.

Before I made the shape of the letter, then I crocheted around it.

Yarn for poetry

4ply
Not acrylic and a light colour, all that was required.
I had to ask around about 4 ply and wool, not anything that I have used before.
4 strands it was all quiet simple, really I guess.
But with a little advice........(That what experienced knitters are for)
I found this at 23krs a ball, I think a pretty good deal
Soft and minty
Work began

12 by 12 inch square
size 3 hook
59 chain? this was more like 8 cm. A little math reqiured (kim star)
90 and that made the 12 inch required.
Then I began, I didn't get far with such teeny tiny stitches, but it's all in the name of poetry so I won't complain.
www.poetrysociety.org.uk

This week I have been busy! (mostley making)

Double ended hooks

New! not seen before......
Knit story
I found a really cheap place to stock up on my acrylic wool in the UK.
A sewing machine fixing shop
, opp Primark (make it easy)

We chatted about Stockholm, I guess he wondered why 10 balls all bright colour balls of acrylic.

Then I saw that he had a little collection on needles for a £1(the usual sort)

On asking if he had any crcohet hooks, as this trip to UK I forgotten to pack
my knit fix bag.

I had a 25! and a 8 variety, not. Mind you any hooks better than none.

He replied "no" to crochet hook request, I thought id look anyway, for my knitting needle collection I can always find more space , Just one more set.......

Shining from the bottom of the pot a gold doubled ended crochet hook!

Around a size 3 and 3.5.

I joked with him not knowing his stock, and he gave it to me, yes told me to pop it in my bag
a kind knit gesture.

A hook for Free........now that's a story worth sharing.

A hook or a screw

A charity shop purchase and I think that it could have possibly been hand made.

Extremely tarnished so it spent a night in the brown sauce
(English bad habit)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Sauce
(The sauce acidic, I think that's the science part)

I'm a Marmite girl.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marmite

The screw looking part, I think the term is bevelled
(I may have heard Rich mention this term)

But any how, home made = made with love.
A rare one to my collection.

I knit a poem

http://outcastartists.blogspot.com/

Mentioned by Alabama, I have gotten involved with this project. Funny thing the Rebecka that's running the project is Swedish it turns out with our e mails of correspondence.
Small world, from Smaland.
My progress has not yet begun as I need to purchase some wool(Real wool).
(no acrylics here please)Today's job;-)

I'm Crocheting a blank square so it couldn't be easier.
Pink yarn and beads

The pink and beads a long scarf type of project that can be wrapped around some thing in the city.

Helen and her blog
http://tricot-ting.blogspot.com/

Basically a bit of knitted Graffiti, on a big scale.

Update on Carmen's Birthday Shawl
Below
I'm currently three weeks late but getting their the small sized needles have taken a little long than anticipated on my easy (not so easy) quick knit shawl.

To speed things up I will add rows on an 8mm needle a pattern but randomly as I'm not on for row or stitch counts.
