stop & savor summer!

Around here we wait sooo long for summer, and yet when it finally arrives I seem to get so busy with all the yard work and outdoor chores that I really have to make myself stop and 'smell the roses'.
It's hot and sunny out this afternoon, and the swimming pool is looking pretty inviting...there's a huge basket of laundry waiting yet to be folded, but maybe if I get that done quickly I can fit in a swim before fixing dinner...

[some new bags in the shop]

Hope you are taking some time out to savor the summer. Have a great day!!

Arctic Spring Mittens

I seriously have to stop knitting more Arctic Spring Mittens. This time I used Blue Danube, Peridot, Everglade and Spruce colors of Elann's Peruvian Pure Alpaca Fina.

Here's my complete stash of the Elann alpaca. I want to buy more
colors but I'm trying to restrain myself until they add more of the colors. I need some lighter colors for contrast.

I am now working on another pair of thicker alpaca mittens and these have corrugated ribbing. If I can grab DH I'm going to see if he can get some step-by-step photos and even a video of how I do the German Twisted Cast On which is a great cast on for this type of ribbing.

New York , New York

Back straps, fitted top with accentuated hips.

Very bauble, very party party sooooo very New York!
Teamed with shiny black legging and big tank girl army boots, oh so John Paul Gautier!

If you have seen the film "Fifth element" then you'll know what I mean, he costumed designed and it was a lot of outrageous plastic and Lycra this would have been a fitting knitted outfit if required at the time.

Think I should change its title to Bauble or Icing on a cake;-)
